We offer parents a tool to know. Previous preventative measures have proven no effect. Remember this isn't a punishment. You decide whats best for your child. Beware that more kids are trying stronger drugs at younger ages. Would it hurt to try? We believe implementing this into your child's life is key to their protection in current times.
Let your child know these test aren't a lack on trust or punishment, just a way to set a healthy boundary. You want the best for your kid, let them know that.
It’s time to have a discussion with your child. Try and understand why your child has used substances. Did they just want to try it? Do they do it every now and then? Is it a bad habit? Any mind altering substance is harmful for the undeveloped brain. It’s important you help your child put a stop to their use. Your child may try and minimize the situation. Try and have an honest discussion. These drug test are not a stand alone resolve for drug use. Seek therapy, or possibly rehab programs.
Congratulations! Your child is drug free from the substances on the test. Meet this result with something positive. This will reinforce your child’s healthy behavior.
This is a red flag. Many view a refusal the same as a positive. Try and understand why your child is refusing. Does it make sense? Probably not. If they are unable to produce a urine sample then they should be given something to drink. Anyone should be able to produce a urine sample within a few hours.
It is your choice. There are pros and cons to telling your child in advance. Letting them know days beforehand may lesson their surprise but consequently can allow them to prepare and plan ahead to pass a test with fake urine.
